1. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, dishonored your parents, used the Lord's name in vain, committed adultery or lusted in your heart, coveted, killed someone or hated someone? Has God always been 1st place in your life?

God doesn't have a scale and look to see if your good deeds outweigh your bad.  God is a holy God.  There is no sin in heaven.  Only perfect people can enter heaven.  So how can we as imperfect people be allowed into heaven?  We can't..  until we have been washed clean.

Admitting you have sinned is the first step to accepting God's invitation.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us
from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:8-9)

We also need to be willing to turn from sin (The thing to remember is
that God will help us with this part if we ask him.)

"I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish" (Luke 13:5)

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. (2 Corinthinas 7:10)

2) Believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead.

Jesus paid the penalty for your sin.

Imagine standing before a judge and being sentenced to the death penalty ....then someone you don't even know approaches the judge and says...
"Take me instead..I'll take his place"

Jesus Christ came to save us from our sins!!!!  Jesus loves you so much that he was willing to suffer an agonizing death on the cross to take your place so that you could be with him in heaven forever.   He has gone to prepare a place for you and he will return to this earth to bring those who are His to be with him forever.

This is the GOOD NEWS!!!!

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23)

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life. For he did not send his son into the world to condemn it
but to save it." (John 3:16-17)

3) Receive God's Gift of Salvation

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become
children of God (John 1:12)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the
gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Recognize that there is no way that you can earn salvation. It is a gift that comes by grace
through faith.

4. Confess that "Jesus is Lord "

Lord means: one who has control of the person, the master

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."(Romans 10:9-10)

Another translation puts it this way:

"For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in his heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation."
(Romans 10:9-10 TLB)

You might be wondering "Isn't there more than one way to heaven?

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me.(John 14:6)
Jesus says that He is the way.  He says no one comes except through Him.

Good works cannot save you. God doesn't grade on a curve.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Prayer of Invitation

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for making me and loving me even when I have ignored you and
gone my own way. I realize now that I need You in my life.  I admit that I have  sinned and need to be forgiven for my sins. I believe that You died on the cross to pay the price for my sins and that God raised You back to life. I am willing to turn from sin and turn to You. I now invite You to come into my heart and cleanse me and make me new. I accept Your gift of salvation. I want to follow You. I realize that it won't always be easy, but I am willing to let You run my life. Please teach me and guide me and  help me to know You.  Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit too.   Amen
