Are You Angry
              with Someone?


If you become angry or offended easily, or if you think of someone and something doesn't feel right inside, that's an indication that there is a need to forgive someone.  Please pray slowly through the list below asking the Holy Spirit to help you identify anyone who you think has wronged you that you have not forgiven.

Now that you have identified those you need to forgive, can you think of anyone that might need to forgive you?  It will make it easier to forgive others when you realize that you might need forgiveness too.  Also think about how Jesus forgave when he was on the cross. "Father, forgive them; they know not what they do" Luke 23:34

Matthew 6:12 says "Forgive us our sins as we have forgiven those who sin against us."

                  Prayer for overcoming
                Unforgiveness/Bitterness

Following is a possible prayer.  Feel free to pray as the Holy Spirit leads

    Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I  choose to forgive ___________ from my heart for all intentional and unintentional offenses committed against me.  With Your help, I release him/her for what he/she did to me.  I place it on the cross and separate it from him/her. On the Day of Judgement when I stand before your throne, I will hold no accusation against him/her.  Thank you that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Please give me your strength to forgive.  Father, I ask you to bless _____________ and not to hold this/these offense(s) against them. 

I confess, and repent for allowing this unforgiveness  in my life.  I ask You, Lord Jesus, to forgive me.  Thank you that as I confess, you are faithful and just to forgive my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. If anyone in my life modeled unforgiveness or carried bitterness that caused me to be defiled, I forgive them and ask you to bring people into my life now to model your way of living.

In the name of Jesus, and by the power of His blood, I cancel all of Satan’s authority over me in this area.  Holy Spirit, I invite you into my heart to fill me and heal me of this pain.    Please speak your words of truth to me about this situation now and in the days ahead. Please fill me with a greater revelation of your great mercy for me and allow me to see _____________ through your eyes.   Give me the strength to forgive others like you forgive me.  Please show me any lies of the enemy that would cause me to carry this  unforgiveness and the truth that will set me free.  Thank you Lord that you will give me perfect peace as I trust you to work this situation for my good.   Help me to trust you more.  Thank you Lord that I am free to forgive and free to love others.  Help me remember to deal with each future offense before I go to bed.  Please heal my body and my soul of any effects that have been caused by any bitterness or unforgiveness.  In Jesus name,Amen.

Matthew 6:12

Mark 11:25
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me?  Up to seven times?”  Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven times”

Colossians 3:7-8
You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
