Set Free to Turn Away from Sin
Once we become a Christian, we are set free from the power that sin has over our lives. We are free to make choices each day to follow Jesus, towards all that is good and right and away from from what is evil or wicked. God wants to help us with this. As we read the bible, we will begin to change as our minds are renewed to the truth. If we don't get it right, we can just admit it and ask for His help. Following are some scriptures & scripture-based prayers, and after that there is a list of things the bible says to turn away from.
1John 1:9
Thank you, Lord, that when I confess my sins to you, “you are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me of all unrighteousness.”
2 Timothy 2:19
"The Lord knows those who are His" and "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness" Help me to turn away from wickedness.
Acts 3:26
“When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.” Thank you for blessing me to turn away from wicked ways.
Titus 2:11-14
"For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope-the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good." Thank you that You are teaching me to say NO to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live a self-controlled, upright and godly life and helping me to be eager to do what is good.
Romans 6:1-2, 6-7, 13-15
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! ....
6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.... 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!

Father, in the name of Jesus, I confess my sins to You. I desire to turn away from anything that does not please You. Thank You that if I confess my sins You are faithful and just and will forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Please heal my body and my soul from any damage caused by my sin. Help me to have faith that you will continue to shape and mold me to be more like Christ. I ask for a tender heart to hear Your voice and to be led by Your Spirit. Teach me and guide me so that I will live in ways that are pleasing to You. If I am ever tempted, please help me remember that I can cry out to You for help to resist the temptation and to see the way out. I pray for grace to say "no" to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live a self-controlled, upright and godly life. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil. Help me to trust You. Please fill me with your grace, truth, and love. In Jesus name I pray, Amen
